Get your internet fame on.
Internet fame is a fickle mistress. One day you're a virtual unknown. Then, without any real warning, a video or well timed tweet could send you spiralling into the depths of internet stardom. Everybody knows about internet fame, but achieving it is much easier said than done.
This probably won't work if you're just sitting around brainstorming good tweets that you can do. The key to this is letting the good ideas wash over you like a shower of good ideas. What's that thing people are always saying about watched phones? That they never ring. Same thing goes for twitter. A watched twitter never tweets.
Sometimes you can get internet famous for doing a very bad tweet. In that case, you're on your own kid.
Remember when that girl made a Beyonce quiz for her boyfriend to take and it went viral? Yeah, the internet loves that kind of stuff. Anything slightly out of the norm with a gimmick or a funny visual will do. Believe it or not, people on the internet are pretty easy to entertain. You just gotta know what buttons to push.
The internet has a weird habit of latching onto people with good faces. Don't think that just because the internet was invented by highly intelligent individuals with the purpose of connecting and distributing important information that people are above finding hot people and making them famous.
This is, of course, tongue in cheek. There's no such thing as a "good face". Except for this guy's face. That's a really good face.
Much like regular fame, talent is not a prerequisite for internet fame. But it certainly doesn't hurt things. You get double points if your personality is on point and you can do something exceptionally well.
This path to internet fame can often be the most unexpected. I really wouldn't recommend anyone set out to become a meme but once the wheels are in motion it's better to just ride the wave. Never swim against the current of a meme. The power of the meme is too strong.
Being on Youtube can't guarantee fame. Plenty of people enter the youtube world and find out the hard way that cracking the video streaming site takes a little bit of elbow grease (and a good face, probably). For the people trying to make it big, it will likely take a couple of big hits to really become internet famous. Don't fret though. Plenty have found their fame and fortune on the site and there is a possibility you could too. Although statistically it's not likely.
To be fair, no one should be using social justice as a means to become famous. That being said, sometimes internet fame just happens for those in pursuit of equality and fairness. I like to think that if Harriet Tubman were alive today, she would 100% be a social justice blogger. So, I guess the best advice for achieving fame as a social justice blogger would be to become Harriet Tubman.
