People Are Calling Out Zoella For "Fan Exploitation" Over Her Overpriced Advent Calendar

The contents of the calendar - which costs £50 - actually only add up to £21.57 in total.

Zoella is currently catching some heat from the internet over her unreasonably priced advent calendar and people are really really pissed off about it. 

The calendar, which costs £50 and contains 12 "luxe" products, is currently on sale at Boots. Wanna know what's inside this FIFTY POUND CALENDAR?! Well, we'll bloody tell ya. For fifty english pounds, you can get: A bauble, confetti (yes, really), a candle, a purse, two cookie cutters (in one window), a jotter pad, a keyring, a pen, a room spray, seven sticks and a votive.

Needless to say, people are NOT impressed with the advent calendar at all. Many are pointing out that you can buy almost every item in there for half the price of the actual product itself and many are taking issue that it's only got twelve doors to open while other "luxury" advent calendars have 24 doors and cost much less.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Others are jumping to her defence over the product, saying that she has no say over how much the items in her Christmas collection costs - which is in fact the case.

 

 

 

We discussed the entire thing on the PopBuzz Podcast this week and agreed that it was WAY over-priced for what - and how much - it actually contained. If Zoe had included a wide range of travel sized products from her own bath product line? Fine. It still would have been overpriced but at least we would all be able to smell nice after a shower. 

Unfortunately, we can confirm that a 77p cookie cutter, a half decent candle and a purse that costs £4 at the most is an absolute joke, but is it actually Zoe's fault? (Tune in at 6:12 to hear the rant of the century.)

 

While there's absolutely ZERO reason for people to start attacking Zoe personally for the price of the calendar, it's understandably frustrating for a lot of fans. We know she works incredibly hard and very closely with the manufacturers to make sure her products are perfect but on this occasion, it looks like they've f*cked her up big time.

A spokesperson for Zoella Beauty told Mirror Online: 'Zoe is incredibly proud of the Christmas collection and excited to see it in store. However, the pricing and in store promotional strategy of the collection, including the calendar, is at the control of third parties and is not set by Zoe.'

Zoe has now commented on the situation herself and explained how she has no control over the pricing of the products. The calendar has now been slashed down to half price at Boots.
