"When you're the absolute best, you get hated on the most." PREACH, I think...?
By now, nobody should be a stranger to Kanye West's unfaltering self-confidence. And after earning his own degree last month from the School Of The Art Institute Of Chicago, Ye is passing on some of his assured wisdom to other graduates.
Speaking at the ceremony for fashion grads of the Los Angeles Trade Technical College on Friday, Kanye offered some surprisingly solid advice on dealing with the fashion profession. "It's a tough world out there; You’re going to prepare yourself for politics, bad bosses, hating employees."
"And usually, when you're the absolute best, you get hated on the most."
That's our Yeezy, never fails to keep it humble. And while his advice might not always apply (there are definitely hated people who are not the absolute best), there's some inspiration to be found there.
Some of Kanye's speech echoes his response to critics such as Fern Mallis, director of New York Fashion Week, who declared she was "over Kanye". Ye opened up about a lot of the obstacles he faced when beginning his side-gig as a fashion designer.
"Even for me as a successful musician, to make the transition [into fashion], it was really all but impossible. People really try to box you in to what they know you best for."
You can always rely on Dr. West to keep it real.
