Praise the Almighty Internet for people with a good ear for music, massive pop culture knowledge, and WAY too much free time.
Sometimes at PopBuzz, our research on things can take us down a mysterious and wild ride through the darkest corners of internet content. And sometimes as a result, you get some pure gold.
Doing the rounds on the internet the past couple of days is this utterly ridiculous mashup between the theme song from 90's sitcom Seinfeld, and mid-2000's nu metal ragefest "Break Stuff" from Limp Bizkit.
It's the mashup you never knew you wanted, but once you've heard how well it fits, it feels so good.
See? Who thinks of this stuff?
Following the discovery of this amazing combination, we felt compelled to compile - in no particular order - a list of our favourite mashups of famous pop songs with themes from TV, movies and even video games. Enjoy.
This one is practically older than the internet. Turns out the theme song from one of our favourite childhood programmes fits with a huge number of raps (the list of parodies is endless), but the pairing with Fiddy's breakout single "In Da Club" is the original and best.
This is part of a whole EP of raps mashed up with Howard Shore and John Williams compositions. But damn, if this version of the Kanye track mixed with "Concerning Hobbits" doesn't make you feel super optimistic about everything, I don't know what to tell you (also can you imagine Kanye as a hobbit because I can and it's literally the best)
Originally thrown together by Tumblr user Conrad Tao and described as "Patrick Stump's transformation music", this anime/pop-punk hybrid is a complete JAM that we keep coming back to.
Who do you want to see on the Iron Throne? Daenerys? Tyrion? Rihanna? We think Rihanna. And after you've listened to this amazing rework of the iconic theme with "Diamonds", you will too.
PREPARE FOR TROUBLE. Nicki's bangin' verse from Kanye's "Monster" is a jam in its own right, but pair it up with the ultimate villain theme, and it's nigh unstoppable.
Drake's If You're Reading This It's Too Late has been out for about a week and a half, and as if it wasn't bad enough that the cover art has been parodied to death, we've already got some ridiculous mashups. Here's this from anonymous mystery masher straightwhiteboyproblems that will crack you up whether or not you've ever played a Kirby game in your life.
Another offering from Conrad Tao, this shows you what it'd be like if Taylor Swift sang along to what is basically elevator music. It's catchy, but in small doses.
The iconic theme song of hot new crime podcast Serial gets a pop do-over with... Miley. Honestly, surely there's a better fit. Welp, this is the internet; if the opportunity presents itself, someone's gonna do it.
Original animated Netflix series Bojack Horseman is about a washed-up 90s sitcom actor trying to give his sad alcohol-ridden life meaning in a new, fast-moving Hollywood world. Also he's an anthropomorphic horse. You should watch it. This mashup with Yeezy's "Can't Tell Me Nothing" puts a whole new spin on the meaning of the lyrics, and it's kind of awesome.
I'm just gonna say it: We're sick to death of this song. Sick of the original, all the online parodies, clone single "Lips Are Movin'", and probably every other future Meghan Trainor release. SORRY. Saying that, we can lift the ban for this hilarious mashup with the Shop Theme from iconic Zelda favourite, Ocarina Of Time.
