The “Riverdale” finale is going to be “tragic for one character” and now we’re sweating...

The season finale of Riverdale is now ONE EPISODE AWAY and we're not entirely sure we've prepared ourselves enough for what is about to happen. Just like last season, it sounds like there's going to be a big plot-twisty reveal, a lot of character drama and potentially... a huge death.

Yep, the cast have been out teasing plot points about the final episode and according to KJ Apa, the dramatic season finale episode is said to be "tragic... for one person in particular in the show, but for everyone, ultimately.” *breathes heavily, starts sweating*

As we all know, Jughead's fate was left up in the air after the penultimate episode but showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa may have just shared a picture that proves Juggie is alive and very, VERY, well...

Oh, what's that? Betty? Smiling? Topless? With her hair in complete disarray? OH. OK THEN. Now, if Jughead died or was still on his death bed we're preeeetty sure Betty wouldn't be outchea lookin' like that. Unless it's from a dream sequence, of course.

But the picture also might imply a cheeky time jump. If Jughead is alive and *ahem* well enough to engage in such activities, it's not going to be immediately after 30 Ghoulies have beaten him to a pulp, is it? Could we jumping forward a few weeks? And is this before or after they've caught the second Black Hood? 🤔

Anyway, here's everything you need to know about the big "tragic" finale of Riverdale season 2:

What will happen in the Riverdale season 2 finale?

According to the EW spoiler room, Lili Reinhart has revealed that the season's main mystery will be wrapped up in the penultimate episode and the final episode will launch the show into a new direction, much like season one. There will also be another HUGE cliffhanger, although we're pretty sure it won't be as *literal* as last season.

“What happens at the end of season 2 is tragic, but almost perceivable,” Apa said. “You can see it coming a little bit.”

Cole Sprouse also teased a few details about the episode: “It’s utilizing a lot of hidden turns in the earlier episodes that a lot of people might’ve overlooked, and setting up a narrative that we didn’t realize was actually a chess game one of our characters was losing tremendously the whole time.” He also told TV Line that "Jughead has made a lot of enemies."

Camila Mendes and Marisol Nichols also teased some drama between the whole Archie and Hiram situation too. “It’s the lead-up from everything that’s been happening between Archie and Hiram, their relationship… I think we’re going to be worried about Archie’s fate,” says Mendes. Nichols also reveals, “We’re going to get a lot of our questions answered that have built up over the season… I would say it’s very much a throwback to any gang war, and I’m excited for people to see that.”

So to summarise: Cliffhanger. Tragic. Perceivable. Chess Game. Jughead's enemies. Archie. Hiram. Gang war. That's a lot to pack into the last episode of the season!

We already know that Hal Cooper has been unveiled as the Black Hood and we also know there's TWO people behind the mask - so that's gotta be resolved. Hiram appears to be in cahoots with Penny Peabody, the Ghoulies and Penelope and Claudius Blossom. Alice and Betty probably need therapy. FP apparently goes crawling back to the booze (so much for THAT character development) and it looks like Cheryl joins the Serpents and is given her own red leather serpent jacket!

But there's still so much to be resolved: Will Hiram's twirly villain moustache finally slip? Has he been in cahoots with the Blossoms this whole time too? Has Archie been stringing him along this entire time? Has Hermione been stringing him along?! WILL JUGHEAD SURVIVE? WHO'S 👏 GONNA 👏 DIE?!

Whatever happens, it's not gonna be pretty. But as long as no one harms a hair on FP Jones' head, we're good.
