The U2 frontman's left arm is still in pretty bad shape. :/

Back when Bono first had his cycling accident in November, we speculated that it was part of a wider universal plan to get rid of him, as penance for the unsolicited arrival of U2's Songs Of Innocence in our iTunes libraries.

Buuuuut unfortunately, the joke's over now. After the star's collision in Central Park that resulted in a fractured eye socket, left shoulder, elbow and hand, Bono still hasn't fully recovered. And it could be over a year before his arm is completely healed.

"I really used to think that my head was harder than any surface it came in contact with, and I don’t anymore," Bono admits to the New York Times. "I didn’t come off a Harley-Davidson. I came off a push bike and smashed myself to bits. There is no glory here."

Obviously the injury was a bit humbling; the singer was put out of commission the day before he and the rest of U2 were due to begin a week's guest slot on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Jimmy stepped in with resident band The Roots to pull off an amazing U2 cover instead.

And if the band needs an extra guitarist on their upcoming Innocence + Experience tour, Bono might need Fallon to fill in for him. Showing the slow progress of his healing hand, Bono admits that his guitar-playing days are on hold indefinitely.

"It feels like I have somebody else’s hand," he admits. "But they say that nerves heal about a millimeter a week, so in about 13 months, I should know if it’s coming back."

Here's hoping Bono will make a full recovery in due course...
