Excuse us, we're just popping on our leg warmers and neon boob tube.

One thing that's good about the changing release day of music to Friday is that we have new tunes to soundtrack out weekend with.

Enter stage left CHVRCHES, who have just shared the latest song from their upcoming sophomore album Every Open Eye, which is due for release on 25 September.

Called "Clearest Blue", the song is full of nostalgic synths and singer Lauren Mayberry's angelic vocals, giving it a slightly wistful and euphoric quality. In fact, the song is where the Scottish band got their album title from.

Do you get the slight "Just Can't Get Enough" vibe from the song, because it's making us want to don a mullet, pop on our leg warmers and hit the disco.

Speaking of the track, Mayberry said it "encapsulate the feeling of trying to be hopeful but conflicted at the same time - of wanting to let yourself go but being afraid of the drop”. We totally get that, don't you?

To celebrate the launch of their new album, CHVRCHES will play a sold out show at London's Dome before heading out on tour later in the year.

Listen to "Clearest Blue" below and prepare to get your 80s on.
