Never introduce your own mother to Drake. It will not go well.

If Daniel Kaluuya's story about his mum meeting Drake for the first time doesn't fill you will second-hand embarrassment, I don't know what will.

The Oscar-nominated actor and Queen & Slim star stopped by PopBuzz HQ last week (Jan 28) to discuss his new movie, and play a completely out of control game of Choose Your Own Interview.

During the chat, Daniel revealed the technique behind his impressive American accent that he's used in most of his recent projects. He also went into detail about just how awkward it was to shoot THAT saucy love scene with co-star Jodie Turner-Smith in Queen & Slim.

But when asked about his most awkward celebrity encounter? That title belongs to Drake, and it's all thanks to his mum.

"I introduced my mum to Drake and she didn't know who he was," Daniel revealed. "She was just like 'Who is he?' In front of him."

He continued: "She was like, 'Who is he?' and I was like, 'he's a superstar' and she goes, 'superstar to who?' And then she went to work and had the picture and everyone was bugging out about this picture. She was like 'who is this guy?'"

"Everyone that's under 35 at her work was like 'WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?' and she's just like, 'who is this Drake?!'"

In other news, Daniel also reveals his JAY-Z inspired Drag name (Wavie McMauvelous, what you saying?!) and reveals the dream project he'd wanna work on with friend John Boyega. (Maybe Bad Boys 4, but Daniel has much bigger ideas...)

So, there you have it. And if you take away anything from this interview, let it be the fact that you should always get your mum clued up before you introduce her to one of the biggest names in music.

Queen & Slim is out now in UK cinemas.
