We just really like classic tunes, okay?

The Guardians Of The Galaxy sequel officially has a title.

Director James Gunn confirmed that the 2017 sequel will be called Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, after Marvel's president of production Kevin Feige accidentally let it slip.

The title is presumably a nod to "Awesome Mix Vol. 1/Vol. 2", the cassette tapes owned by Peter "Star Lord" Quill (Chris Pratt). Full of iconic pre-1988 jams, "Awesome Mix Vol.1" was the movie's official soundtrack, and was so popular that it reached the top spot of Billboard's Hot 200 chart.

GOTG Vol. 2 has some huge expectations to fulfill, and a lot of that lies in its own soundtrack. So based on our expert insider knowledge of the upcoming sequel, we thought of some awesome classic tunes that need to appear on that second tape...

1) David Bowie - Loving The Alien

We already know that Star Lord's mum loves some Bowie; so why not get a track in there that alludes to his space-lothario demeanour?

2) War - Why Can't We Be Friends

The Guardians are at each other's throats, like, all the time. Honestly, if you can't imagine Rocket and Drax sulking at opposite ends of their ship while this is playing then I don't even want to know you.

3) Harry Chapin - Cat's In The Cradle

We've heard that we're going to meet Star Lord's alien father at some point in this movie, so what better song to include than the ultimate Daddy Issues jam?

4) Stevie Nicks - Edge Of Seventeen

We need an awesome lady-driven track that matches up to Vol. 1's "Cherry Bomb" by the runaways. What better than some Stevie Nicks to get Gamora pumped up for another fight with Nebula?

5) Creedence Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son

AKA That Song In Every War Movie Ever, this one would make an amazing addition to any "gear-up" scene just before the Guardians head into the final showdown.

6) Earth, Wind & Fire - Shining Star

Star Lord (and maybe Groot too) needs another epic dance number. This shouldn't even be questioned. Let's go with this 1975 favourite. Because yes.

7) Rolling Stones - Moonlight Mile

If the Guardians are going to be a part of the epic two-part Avengers: Infinity War, then chances are that Star Lord will have to suck it up and return to Earth. So he's gonna need a good homecoming anthem; can you imagine the movie ending with them setting a course for Earth with this in the background?
