It was bound to happen.
Brace yourselves, guys. The winds of change are coming. Just when we were all learning to love and accept Instagram stories for the Snapchat clone it is, the Facebook-owned company have only gone and announced that they will be testing ads within its newest feature.
Instagram is no stranger to the ad business. We've all seen the advertising tailored to our geographic area and interests peppered throughout our feeds. But now, likely because Stories has been such an unexpected hit, Instagram will be showing ads to its users in between stories.

Starting Wednesday (January 11), Instagram set out to test the new ads for 30 elite publishers like Coca Cola, Netflix, and L'Oreal. More are slated to join the party.
From August 2016 to now, Stories alone has earned itself 150 million daily users, meaning that 50% of all Instagram daily users view the stories feature. That could put some perspective on why Instagram has chosen to roll out these video ads now. Forbes are reporting that this move could bank Instagram a smooth 3.6 billion American dollars in ad revenue.
