How to take down your homophobic relatives 101

So, we all have one of those relatives. A grandma, uncle, or aunt whose views on sex and sexuality are totally stuck in the dark ages. You can usually avoid their nasty opinions but, on occasion, you may be forced to go face to face with them on all things LGBTQ. That's what happened to 18 year old bisexual British teenager, Charlie, whose tweets to her homophobic aunt have gone viral.

Charlie came out as bisexual to her friends and family two years ago but it seems that Aunt Marie really isn't taking it well.

Well, that's...not nice.

And then things REALLY ESCALATED between Charlie and Aunt Marie.

Can we all just acknowledge that Charlie is a treasure and an inspiration to us all? Somebody call the Queen and get this girl a knighthood or something.

As you can guess, Twitter is utterly DELIGHTED at Charlie and Aunt Marie's exchange.

If you're ever in a situation where you might need to confront a family member for being racist, sexist, or homophobic, just follow Charlie's example. Sure, her extended family may never speak to her again but anyone who thinks being gay or bi is a "lifestyle choice" is probably a bit of a waste anyhow, right?
