"My scars from abuse made me insecure. And so I had to cover up my scars with tattoos."

Bella Poarch has just revealed the heartbreaking reason behind her tattoos.

The TikTok star is known for having a plethora of tattoos. In September, she apologised for getting a tattoo of the Japanese rising sun flag, which is considered offensive to South Koreans because of its association with oppression and Japanese imperialism. Bella insisted she didn't know the real history of the symbol and she has now had the tattoo covered up.

On Wednesday (Nov 11), Bella opened up about her tattoos on TikTok, after a fan asked: "Why do you have so many tattoos? They don’t fit you." She responded with a video showing her arm sleeve, rabbit ink and wings on her back.

She captioned the video: "I had a rough childhood. My scars from abuse made me insecure. And so I had to cover up my scars with tattoos."

Fans praised her for being so open with them about such an emotional subject. In the comment section, she continued: "I wasn’t comfortable posting this. But if you’re having a hard time right now, just know that you are not alone and you'll make it through this.

"You are brave and strong."
