People are doing the High School Musical text challenge and the responses are hilarious

People have been texting their partners lyrics from High School Musical's "Gotta Go My Own Way" and, as you would expect, the responses have been incredible.

All the best internet challenges have a few things in common. You might have to text someone something weird like "would you still love me if I had no skin" or, simply, "how do I look". Then, you have to share it on Twitter and bask in the hilarity. The latest viral challenge has people texting their boyfriends/loved ones High School Musical lyrics and, as you might have predicted, the results are mixed.

What is the high school musical challenge?

People are texting their partners lyrics from High School Musical's "Gotta Go My Own Way", a Vanessa Hudgens number from the second movie. 'Gotta Go My Own Way" has some pretty dramatic lyrics, so you might understand how receiving them in a text might make your partner a bit nervous.

Some people pulled it off so well that their partner actually thought they were being broken up with.

While other people's partners caught on fairly quickly.

A few people almost caught a block from their significant other 😂

"Go ahead. Be a mermaid" has to be the best High School Musical challenge response we've seen so far.

Some people definitely weren't expecting the answer they got.
