Shaggy from "Scooby Doo" has been turned into a powerful new meme...

2019 is really serving on the meme front. We may be less than one month into the year but, in that time, the internet has already blessed us with some of the funniest viral content we've ever seen. First things first, we experienced the great war of Kylie Jenner versus the egg, then Sasuke started choking everyone and now the J.K. Rowling "no one" meme is sending us all into endless fits of laughter.

Still, nothing is quite as wild as this next meme. Seriously, if you thought that 2018's 'they did surgery on a grape' meme was bizarre, this one is something else. Cast your minds all the way back to 2002, a time when Buffy the Vampire Slayer was still on air and Avril Lavigne reigned supreme. It was also when the Scooby-Doo movie was released. Now, in 2019, Shaggy has been memed as a God... literally.

Where did the Shaggy memes start?

Yes. Shaggy (Matthew Lillard) has finally been immortalised in meme form and it's hilarious. The meme is simple. People are essentially editing old Scooby-Doo cast interviews to make it look like Shaggy was some kind of omnipotent being and that playing Shaggy took a toll on Matthew and the rest of his cast. Okay maybe the meme is not that simple but it didn't come out of nowhere.

In a 2011 animated Scooby Doo film called Scooby-Doo! Legend of the Phantosaur, Shaggy beats up a massive biker gang while hypnotised. Shaggy then crossed over into the Dragon Ball Super universe in 2017 when a fan edited the biker scene to feature Ultra Instinct music. It was then that the legend of Shaggy the great and powerful slowly but surely began to spread over the internet.

Mortal Kombat players are now petitioning for Shaggy to be added to the upcoming 11th version of the hit horror fantasy video game that's known for its violence. The petition has been signed over 100,000 times and, even though the game's director Ed Boon has dismissed it, it's inspired an entire wave of new and iconic powerful Shaggy memes.

Let's start with how powerful Shaggy is.

I'm crying.

He can literally erase planets.

We are not worthy.

This got dark real quick.

Like really dark.

And darker still.

Ffsssssssss.

It's important to remember that this actually happened.

Nothing but facts.

A moment of silence for original Scooby.

I...

This one is for all the mythology geeks out there.

"I'd never ask"

The meme has crossed over with other memes.

We appreciate the effort that went into this.

Including Sasuke.

Poor Sasuke.

Thanos has been brought into the meme.

Is there time to edit Endgame to star Shaggy?

Shaggy is what the avengers need.

Marvel make it happen.

Is Matthew a fan though?

Important.

Yes. Yes he is.

Nothing but respect for OUR all powerful overlord.
