Urban Outfitters Is Selling An "Influencer" Costume And It Is Basic AF

"Nothing says 'I'm hip' like paying $59 for something that you probably already own."
It's that time of year again, folks. You'll need to decide what to dress up as for Halloween and we all know that's not an easy task.
For a short time you might have considered an ill-conceived Handmaid's Tale inspired costume. If you were after a far less controversial look, Urban Outfitters' "Influencer" costume has all the trappings of an innocuous get up that will have people asking whether you're dressed as a Kardashian running errands.
Urban Outfitters is selling an influencer costume (aka a sports bra and leggings) and people can't believe their eyes.
Influencers are, of course, the social media stars who get paid the big bucks to sell you tea and sugar based hair supplements, among other things.
Could UO's influencer costume be the most 2018 thing that ever happened? You tell me.
For $59 you can get the "Influencer costume set" which apparently includes "a minimalist sporty-chic sports bra + leggings in muted tonal hues." Wig and baseball cap sold separately, FYI.
The look is excruciatingly basic and, for $0 + $0 shipping and handling, you can go into your closet and re-create this exact look.
As you can probably guess, the internet thinks this idea is...not the best.
I love how Urban is selling a Yeezy Season 6-esque sports bra and leggings set for Halloween and calling it an "influencer" costume. 2018!! https://t.co/a2vs2ue67S

Some see through ass leggings, and transparent sports bra. You’ve reached a new low, UO https://t.co/XfQcpwbMfA

"Influencer Halloween Costume" – Urban Outfitters is selling leggings and a sports bra for people to "channel Instagram style." Nothing says 'I'm hip' like paying $59 for something that you probably already own.

And the crazy part is — some people will actually pay real money for this. 😂🤦♀️ https://t.co/M3JhFWRICz

The handful of reviews of the costume on the UO site are pretty divided as well, ranging from "great costume" to "get a real job". Whatever that means.
Anyways, if you wanted to look like you were "just running out to get some milk" for Halloween, UO has you covered.
