Fans believe that Belle Delphine's Metropolitan Police mugshot and hamster story is fake.

Remember Belle Delphine? The Instagram e-Girl who started selling her used bath water to fans for $30 a jar? The one who was also forced to deny that said bath water gave people herpes. (Honestly, the internet truly outdid itself here.)

Anyway, she's been a bit quiet on social media recently after her account was removed from Instagram for "nudity or pornography" but she's back, and now she's claiming that she was arrested in the UK for "spray painting a car".

The 19-year-old took to Twitter on 7 October to post a mugshot alongside the caption: "I got arrested lol."

A few hours later, she then tweeted that she was arrested after spray painting someone's car after they stole her hamster.

Alongside a series of images, she wrote: "I stg this girl came to my party and stole my hamster. I have no idea why, or who tf does that? I spray painted the fucc out of her car and got arrested, at least I got my hamster back. bitch [sic]."

But Belle's claims have been met with doubt after record of her arrest has not been able to be substantiated. According to LADbible, who contacted the Met Police about the alleged arrest, the claim couldn't be verified. And as noted by Mashable, Delphine's mugshot doesn't appear in any reverse image searches or in the Metropolitan Police's public database of mugshots.

Twitter users also noted that the Met Police don't release mugshots until after the person has been charged in court, and also that they do not watermark their images.

So, was Belle actually arrested? Or is she trolling in a bid to explain away why she's been so absent?

Per Mashable, some people think she is playing up to Ethan Klein's theory about her being arrested for selling her bathwater. In a recent H3 podcast, Klein said he believed Delphine was arrested, possibly for trying to ship bathwater.

"Shipping bathwater, I don't think is legal," Klein said. "So all of a sudden the UK government's like, 'You're selling what?' You can't send used bathwater, or urine, or whatever else she's sending."

Belle's store is also currently offline.

This is a case for the FBI.
