Former YouTuber Charlie McDonnell comes out as trans

"Still going by Charlie but the new pronouns are she/they!"

British YouTuber Charlie McDonnell – who posted under the username Charlieissocoollike on the platform – has come out as trans, after sharing her first "gender reveal" selfie on social media.

In the photo, Charlie wrote: "Gender reveal 🏳️‍⚧️ Still going by Charlie but the new pronouns are she/they!" Sharing the snap in their Instagram story, they added: "New gender just dropped."

Charlie has yet to share any more about their journey on social media.

Charlie's friends were quick to send their messages of congratulations, with Tyler Oakley writing: "So happy for you. love to see you shine & soar!!"

Russell T Davies commented, "Hello Charlie! Much love", while Dan Howell shared simple heart and sparkle emojis. Fans and long time followers also shared messages of support in heir thousands, and congrats to Charlie.

Back in 2011, Charlie became the first person in the UK to hit one million subscribers on YouTube. In 2018, she stepped away from her YouTube career and deleted all her videos. She later moved into TV production and screenwriting.
