Just 10 years ago most people would have balked at the prospect of getting an academic certification in vlogging. Of course, the likes of PewDiePie, Zoella, Michelle Phan and other household names have taught us all a thing or two about turning up our noses at online talent.

Well, if you've had your eye on the prospect of becoming a popular YouTuber, you might want to sign up to a rather unique new course called "How To Be A YouTuber/Vlogger". Yup, for real.

City of Glasgow College in Scotland is offering students the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of vlogging. The 10 week course will equip those enrolled with skills in creating, maintaining, and promoting their YouTube channel.

Topics on the course will include:

How To Set Up Your Own Channel.
Practical Development of Your Channel.
Top 10 Vloggers/Youtuber.
Styles of Vlog.
Platforms (Twitter, Periscope, Vimeo, Youtube).
Devices (Tablet, Phone).
Trends in Social Networking.
Statistics and Retention.
Online Profiling.
Security: How to Look After Yourself Online.
Maintenance.
Promotion Through Social Networks.
Rolling Out Your Channel

The course is taught by a YouTuber in a "webcam equipped room".

The cool part is that, sure it's a qualification in becoming a YouTuber, BUT a lot of the topics covered are also applicable if you're generally interested in creating stuff online. The course is only £150 (a steal at £15 a week) and runs from February 2017 to May 2017.

Alright, kids. it's time to roll up those sleeves and break out those ring lights. YouTube class is now taking applications!
