*cries in poor*
While we're all busy clambering to get our hands on the latest Fenty Beauty drop, YouTubers are lucky enough to get the goods send straight to their door – and get paid serious $$$ to review it. Oh, how the other half live.
Jeffree Star is just one YouTube mogul rolling in the dough, getting paid six figures to review a product. The makeup entrepreneur recently revealed on Twitter that brands, or rather one brand in particular, has offered to pay him $165,000 for using a product.
So basically Jeffree Star earns more cash trying a new product than some people earn in years. Let that sink in.
This video idea is important and I find it funny how brands are afraid to expose the $$$ they pay influencers but it's advertising. Just like Pepsi paying to be in a movie.. But makeup companies want it to be a secret. WHY? This brand offered me $165,000 to use their new product.— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) December 17, 2018
Jeffree wasn't just coming on Twitter to gloat, though, he's working to expose the deals between brands and beauty influencers. It was meant to be in a whole YouTube video exposé but the brand backed out.
Remember how I was going to film a video exposing makeup brand deals? The brand I was working with just bitched out and cancelled because they are worried that the price they pay me, will upset their other clients... they don't want the $ exposed anymore.— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) December 17, 2018
Hopefully I can find another company who would love the exposure, as well as talk about the secrets and "behind the scenes" about brand deals in the beauty industry... 2019 what's good? Who's not scared?— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) December 17, 2018
Now, we already know that Jeffree is making some serious money. In addition to his YouTube channel, Jeffree has a booming cosmetics line and a makeup collaboration with another brand coming soon. He also came in 5th on Forbes' Highest Paid YouTubers list, making $18 million in 2018 alone.
Lend us a tenner please Jeff?!
