NikkieTutorials says she was blackmailed into coming out as trans

Beauty vlogger Nikkie de Jager explained that people were threating to out her to the press.
Yesterday (Jan 14), YouTuber NikkieTutorials came out as trans in a video about her gender identity called: "I'm Coming Out".
Speaking to her fans Nikkie de Jager opened up about her story. She said: "I can't believe I'm saying this today to all of you for the entire world to see but damn it feels good to finally do it. When I was younger I was born in the wrong body, which means that I am transgender." Nikkie ended the new video stating: "Today is the day I am free. I get to be me finally."

Since coming out, Nikkie has received widespread praise from fans and fellow YouTubers alike. The video alone has already been viewed over 15 million times. What people may not realise though, is that Nikkie was blackmailed into coming out.
In the video, Nikkie explains that she was not able to come out completely on her own terms. She says: "Today I am here to share something with you that I've always wanted to share with you one day but under my own circumstances and it looks like that chance has been taken away from me so today I am taking back my own power."
She then goes on to say: "Apparently we live in a world where other people hate on people that are truly themselves. I have been blackmailed by people that wanted to leak my story to the press. It was frightening to know that there are people out there that are so evil they can't respect someone's true identity. It is vile and it is gross."
Nikkie adds: "They said they wanted to leak this because I am lying or because I am scared to know who I really am. So for the people who tried to blackmail me, this one's for you." Nikkie then holds up her middle finger and says: "I hope you can sit nice on it."
Nikkie's video is incredible but, as she says, it is disgusting that people would blackmail her into coming out. Since Nikkie shared her story, fans have rallied around her to show their support for her and call out the people who threatened her.

In response to the support she's received so far, Nikkie took to Instagram to say: "What happened last night is something I would never ever dare to dream about. The incredible amount of love and support and warmth means so much to me. I just... thank you. Thank you. I'm gonna take today to just read everything, take it all in, process and be free."
