Are we watching the Biebs grow up at last?

If you're older than 11, you should hopefully know by now that using the word "gay" in place of other insults like "stupid" or "lame" is a completely uncool thing to do. If not, maybe you need Justin Bieber to remind you.

Posting a weirdly adorable video on his Instagram this week, the Biebs scoots around his private jet on a bizarre wheelie-hoverboard-thing, before wheeling over to plant a lil' kiss on the cheek of his bodyguard Mike Arana.

Now we all know, despite what you may have read in the comments of literally any YouTube video, Justin Bieber is not gay. And he asserted this in the caption of the video, with a surprising addition for Justin: his opinion that even if he was gay, it's "not an insult".

@mikeyarana I'm not gay but even if I was that's not an insult

Now let's be clear: this isn't by any means a revolutionary opinion. It's 2015, we should all be pretty sold on the fact that gay people exist, and it isn't insulting to be one. But in a world where actually genuinely vocally progressive role models are lacking, especially for a young teenage female audience like the one the Biebs has cultivated, it's nice to see the little steps he is taking on his path of personal growth, and his willingness to share that with his incredibly impressionable fans.

Could 2015 be the year of Cool Role Model Justin? We can only hope.
