Ummm excuse my gay ass but what?

In the latest edition of 'bigoted old man shouting at a cloud', a Christian radio talk show host has called for the rainbow flag, a symbol for the LGBTQ movement, to be banned because it is "offensive". Yep.

Bryan Fischer, who has previously claimed that the Holocaust was caused by homosexuals and that Hillary Clinton is a lesbian, hosts the American Family Radio ‘Focal Point’ show. He made the comments in response to the ongoing unrest in the US surrounding the status of Confederate flags and monuments, suggesting that if confederate flags are banned in public spaces for being offensive then rainbow flags should be banned too.

Here's a video of Bryan Fischer making the comments, which also includes him mispronouncing the word 'divisive' several times which is almost more annoying than his actual comments about the rainbow flag.

His comments in full:

There’s a lot of attention right now to get rid of the Confederate flag. There’s a public school system in North Carolina that’s completely banned the confederate flag because it is divisive. So, no more Confederate flag. There’s another symbol that is just as divisive… If we are going to ban the Confederate flag because it is divisive, how about we ban the LGBT flag at school?

If we are going to ban the Confederate flag at school because it creates division because it is offensive to people, I propose that everywhere the Confederate flag is banned… at the same time the LGBT rainbow flag be banned, at exactly the same time for exactly the same reasons. “It is offensive, it is contrary to our most deeply held values, it divides people, it does not bring them together. It’s time to have the LGBT flag banned right alongside the Confederate flag. If we’re going to ban one, I submit we need to ban the other.”

Sure, the rainbow flag is offensive...if you're a massive homophobe! It should go without saying but there is a very clear difference between the two flags. The confederate flag represents the darkest time in American history, when Confederate soldiers fought to preserve slavery in the South during the American Civil War. The rainbow flag, however, was designed to reflect the diverse LGBTQ community and has become a symbol for the struggle for equal rights. That's two very, very different things and to claim the latter is offensive is patently ridiculous.

I mean, really, look how cute it is!
