Alessia Cara is about to drop the first single from her second album. Here's everything we know about the record so far.

It's been a hot minute since Alessia Cara blessed us with new music and her fans have been eagerly awaiting news on the second album.

Alessia release her first album Know-It-All in 2015 which spawned the singles 'Here', 'Wild Things' and 'Scars To Your Beautiful'. Since then the 21-year-old Canadian has released four more singles: 'Stay', a collaboration with Zedd, a feature of Troye Sivan's 'Wild', 'How Far I'll Go' from the Moana soundtrack and her hugely successful collaboration with Logic and Khalid, '1-800-273-8255'.

Alessia has been busy writing the new record for the last year and hasn't shared any information about what to expect until this week when Alessia began teasing the release of 'Growing Pains', the first single to be taken from her as-yet-untitled second album.

So what do we know so far? Here's all the information that's available right now on #AS2.

What is the album called?

At the moment, Alessia has not confirmed the name of her second album.

What songs have been confirmed to feature on the record?

Only one song has been confirmed so far, which is the first single 'Growing Pains'. A day before the song was announced, Alessia Cara challenged 25 fans to completed lines from the piece to piece together the full lyrics to the song. In one lyric, she references her last album "Starting to look like Ms. Know-it-all / Can't take her own advice".

What will the record sound like?

Alessia has given a few clues in interviews about what to expect on the album. Speaking to Billboard News in 2017, Alessia that the album might be more reflective in comparison to her first record.

"It's going to be really reflective stuff. I've been writing really observant and reflective stuff and I feel like the last album was really forward and it had this bite to it but this one is a bit more sitting back, based of the stuff I've been writing. It's nice, it's different."

That said, 'gritty pop' in the style of 'Here' is still where Alessia wants to be in terms of her songwriting. "My heart is always where 'Here' was. That's just naturally how I write and sing and that's what I feel the most. So I definitely want to go more in that lane."

Will there be any collaborations?

Nothing is confirmed at the moment. Previously Alessia mentioned that she had written a song for Rihanna and had met the singer in the studio but that was originally planned to feature on Riri's record. Given the success of their first collaboration, we wouldn't be surprised if there was a second track with fellow Def Jam signee Logic but everything else is just rumours at this stage.
