Ariana Grande called out for 'thanking' Dr. Luke on the Charlie's Angels soundtrack

Ariana Grande's new Charlie's Angels soundtrack includes a shoutout to Dr. Luke in the liner notes.
Earlier this year (Jun 27), Ariana Grande announced that she would be executive producing the soundtrack for the remake of Charlie's Angels starring Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska. She also teased that she would be teaming up with Miley Cyrus and Lana Del Rey on the soundtrack's lead single 'Don't Call Me Angel'.
Reception to the soundtrack has mainly been positive but Ariana is now being called out over the album booklet.
The liner notes for the new Charlie's Angels soundtrack include thanks to various people who helped make the project come together and eagle-eyed fans have noticed that Dr. Luke is mentioned in them. Dr. Luke is a music producer, best known for his work on hits like 'Teenage Dream', 'Party In the USA' and 'Since U Been Gone'. In October 2014, Dr. Luke came under fire after Kesha filed a series of lawsuits against him, alleging that he had sexually assaulted and abused her.
Since then, many artists have come together to support Kesha and denounce Dr. Luke. Ariana Grande even tweeted in 2016 in reference to Kesha's allegations. She wrote: "My heart is with @KeshaRose".
It's currently unclear in what way Dr. Luke is involved in the Charlie's Angels soundtrack (he isn't credited as a writer or as a producer on any of the songs) but fans of Ariana are disappointed to see his name associated with the project and are accusing Ariana of "hypocrisy".
I have no words to how disappointed i am in Ariana Grande for participating in a soundtrack that has DR LUKE open name as a 'special thanks'— Gaga Crave (@Gaga_Crave) November 3, 2019
So she wants us to support a r@pist now in 2020?? pic.twitter.com/ZikvL7Gyrx
ariana and scooter were so proud to executive produce the charlie’s angles soundtrack, only for them to work with the likes of dr. luke? i guess when you’re an industry puppet who relies on payola for chart success, collaborating with a rapist is just a means to an end pic.twitter.com/xINGwfhHLe— Clayd Yila (@ClaydYila) November 3, 2019
Ariana Grande supports Dr Luke. Can people PLEASE stop hyping her ass. She clearly only gives a shit about supporting women when it suits her— ❁ (@charl97s) November 3, 2019
Y’all ain’t ready for this conversation, but Ariana Grande is such a fake feminist. She continues to have Scooter Braun as her manager even after all the shit he’s done to Taylor and Selena, and she allowed Dr. Luke to be included on a soundtrack she executive produced.— 𝔫𝔞𝔱𝔞𝔩𝔦𝔢 (@raremaries) November 3, 2019
Hopefully Ariana will explain and cover the reasonings behind Dr Luke and his involvement with Charlie's Angels 🙏— keѕнa roѕe (@GlitterSebert) November 3, 2019
Dr. Luke regularly works with Kim Petras so it's possible that she submitted his name to be included in the liner notes of the album and Ariana wasn't aware that he's even featured in it. Kim Petras features on the opening track of the OST, 'How It's Done'. Still, it's understandable why people are upset.
As well as Kim, Dr. Luke has also worked with artists including Tyga and Doja Cat this year on hits such as 'Haute (fest. Chris Brown and J Balvin)', 'Juicy' and 'Rules'.
As it stands, Ariana is yet to respond to the backlash. We shall update you if and when she does.
