It is here. Ariana Grande has finally released her fifth studio album thank u, next and it slaps. The 25-year-old artist may have only dropped her last album Sweetener less than six months ago but, in that time, Ariana returned to the studio and created arguably her best work to date. At just 12 tracks long, thank u, next is 42 minutes of pop perfection and, to top it all off, it's her most personal LP yet.

Unsurprisingly, fans are already picking out their favourite thank u, next songs. 'needy' is being hailed for its stunning vocals, 'bloodline' is going viral thanks to its iconic production and 'break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored' looks set to be her next big hit. That being said, 'ghostin' is really doing the rounds on social media. It references Mac Miller and Pete Davidson and it's heartbreaking af.

What are Ariana Grande's 'Ghostin' lyrics about?

The song itself appears to explicitly reference the breakdown of Ariana's relationship with Pete, as she began mourning Mac in the wake of his death. The chorus goes: "I know that it breaks your heart when I cry again // Over him, mmh // I know that it breaks your heart when I cry again // 'Stead of ghostin' him". She acknowledges how hard it must have been for Pete to see her love Mac.

Ariana also opens up about dreaming about Mac: "He just comes to visit me // When I'm dreaming every now and then" and how she, at the time at least, she believed she and Pete could work through it: "But I love you (But I love you), we'll get past this (Past this) I'm a girl with a whole lot of baggage, oh yeah". Fans also think that it interpolates the strings in Mac's 2018 song '2009'.

Discussing the song on Twitter, Ariana wrote that it's about: "feeling badly for the person you're with bc you love somebody else. feeling badly bc he can tell he can't compare.... and how i should be ghosting him." Our hearts.
