Ariana Grande's 2020 Grammys performance had a subtle message to her father Edward Butera.

Ariana Grande returned to the Grammys on Sunday night (26 January), after sitting out the award ceremony last year following a dispute with Grammys boss Ken Ehrlich. Ariana made sure that she would stand out this year, having a Cinderella moment on the red carpet in a huge grey dress. Ariana also showed off her newly-blonde ponytail as she walked alongside her parents Joan Grande and Edward Butera.

Ariana didn't only deliver on the red carpet, though, the '7 Rings' singer also gave a killer medley of her hits, including the forever iconic track 'thank u, next'. But, Ariana changed a lyric in the song for the Grammys and it was so sweet.

Ariana appeared to give a nod to her improved relationship with her father, as she sang: "I'll be thanking my dad / Cause he's really awesome." As all Ari stans will know, the original lyrics go, "I'll be thanking my dad / Cause she grew from the drama."

The special shoutout left Ariana's fans seriously emotional.

Joan and Edward split when Ariana was just a child and she then fell "out of touch" with him in 2013.
