It was Ariana's first live performance of 'Imagine'...
Another day, another Ariana Grande slay. Ever since the 25-year-old artist returned with new music in April this year, she has consistently stunned us with her talent and work. Not only that but she's also dominated the charts and earned widespread critical acclaim. 'no tears left to cry', 'God is a woman', 'breathin' and 'thank u, next' are all instant classics and Sweetener is her best album yet.
It's her brand new song 'imagine' that everyone is obsessed with right now, though. First things first, it's dreamy af (listening to it feels like sitting on a cloud), then there's the fact that it's also really moving (fans think that it could be inspired by Mac Miller) and last but not least those whistle notes (Mariah vibes). Ariana performed them live last night for the first time and fans are shook.
Watch Ariana's 'Imagine' performance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon above.
Anyone who's ever attempted singing whistle notes (the highest of high pitched notes) before knows that they're notoriously hard to not only pull off but actually make sound pleasant. Mariah Carey is one of the few stars who can really nail them live but now Ariana has proven that she can, too. She performed 'Imagine' by surprise on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night.
Fans couldn't get enough of the performance but it's the whistle notes that people are still processing. With that in mind, here are just a few of the reactions and memes that people have made in response to Ariana effortlessly killing it in her upper register.
Longterm stans were really proud of Ariana.

This is award worthy tbh.
In fact it was so good that people are accusing Ariana of lip-syncing.
The whistle was lip sync.

Ultimately though people were living for it.
