"My career would be over tomorrow if I spray painted myself brown and hopped on the cover of Vogue magazine and just started sh-tting on my ex."

Pete Davidson is facing backlash from Ariana Grande fans after making fun of his ex-fiancée in a new Netflix stand-up show.

Yesterday (Feb 26), Pete Davidson's latest comedy special, Alive from New York, debuted on Netflix. During the special, Pete references his relationship to Ariana Grande and argues that he should be able to joke about her if she's writing songs about him and talking about their relationship in magazines. Pete also makes numerous remarks about their sex life and breakup.

In the special, Pete segues into his Ariana jokes via comments on House Representative Dan Crenshaw. He says: "The only thing I did do and I apologise for is I did make that guy famous and a household name for no reason, right? I did what, like, Ariana Grande did for me, right?" Pete then makes a reference to his sex life with Ariana: "I sucked his dick at SNL."

Pete continues: "I wasn't gonna do jokes about this but then my buddy told me, 'Yo, I've recently heard that Ariana said she had no idea who you were, and she just dated you as a distraction.' So now I just think it's fair game. And you're like, 'Pete, this isn't fair. You're airing out dirty laundry. How could you do that? Where did she say this stuff? To her friends in the confidence of her own home?' No, she said it on the cover of Vogue magazine."

Pete goes on and he even pokes fun at the accusations that Ariana is guilty of black-fishing. He adds: "Can you imagine if I did that? My career would be over tomorrow. If I spray-painted myself brown and hopped on the cover of Vogue magazine and just started sh-tting on my ex."

For reference, Ariana didn't actually say anything explicitly negative about Pete in Vogue magazine. She said: "I met Pete, and it was an amazing distraction. It was frivolous and fun and insane and highly unrealistic, and I loved him, and I didn’t know him."

Pete stresses that he's just joking but he also says: "My biggest fear is I'm gonna get shot in the back of the head by a nine-year-old with a ponytail. And the last thing I'm gonna hear is, 'Hashtag cancelled.'" Pete then says that it annoyed him that Ariana said he had a big dick. "Could you imagine if I was like it didn't work out but nice pussy though. That shit wet."

He ends his Ariana segment saying: "I didn't like it because it's just simply not true. She has little tiny little hands. She has very little hands, everything's f--king huge to her. It was a f--king joke the entire time we were dating."

In response to the jokes, Ariana fans have been slamming Pete. One fan said: "pete is so disgusting and if you support him in any way pls unfollow me. idc anymore. he can’t seem to keep ariana’s name out of his mouth. the things i’ve heard him say about her is so gross man".

Another added: "It’s so weird that after this amount of time he is STILL talking about her with that amount of detail. It’s so inappropriate for him to talk about what they did in PRIVATE for a NETFLIX SPECIAL".

Here are just a few of the criticisms.

Obviously, Pete is completely entitled to use his relationship with Ariana for comedy material, just as Ariana is entitled to use her relationship with Pete for song material. However, given the nature of some of the jokes, it's understandable why people are offended by them.

As it stands, Ariana is yet to comment on the jokes. We shall update you if she does.
