Ariana's 'thank u, next' burn book features comments about ex-boyfriends Pete Davidson, Big Sean and Ricky Alvarez, but not Mac Miller - here's why...

Ariana Grande's 'thank u, next' music video has arrived and it is jam packed full of '00s rom-com references and incredible celebrity cameos. (Like seriously, she managed to get Kris Jenner to portray her mum Joan Grande as Mrs George from Mean Girls. Can you believe?!)

Speaking of Mean Girls, there's a very clever reference to the movie's infamous burn book at the beginning of the video that features all of Ariana's ex-boyfriends. In the song, Ariana references four of her exes. There's Big Sean (who wasn't a match), Ricky Alvarez (who she wrote a couple of songs about), Pete Davidson (who she is so thankful for) and of course, Malcolm McCormick aka Mac Miller (who was - still is - an angel.)

In the video, Ariana fills in the burn book just like Regina does in the movie but instead of dragging them for filth between the pages, she writes nice things about them. Because this song is called 'thank u, next' not 'fuck u, next'. Our spiritual leader Ariana has single handedly taught us all to take the high road when it comes to break-ups.

The burn book segment features right at the beginning of the video and shows various comments that Ariana has left under each ex-boyfriend's name. Here's each page in detail, including the picture she uses and the stuff she writes about each guy.

Big Sean

Ariana started dating Big Sean in 2014 and they made their public debut at the Grammy's in 2015. Their relationship lasted for about 8 months and in that time, Sean featured on two of Ariana's songs: 'Best Mistake' and 'Right There'.

On Sean's page, it reads: "so cute, so sweet (would still get it)" WELL ALRIGHT THEN.

Ricky Alvarez

Ariana and Ricky were together almost a year before they broke up. Neither Ariana nor Ricky has spoken out about the reasons behind their split but it's clear that they remain good friends.

On Ricky's page, Ariana writes: "Great dancer," "good times man" and "friends forever." Blessssssss.

Pete Davidson

Ariana and Pete met in 2016 at SNL and later confirmed their relationship in 2018. They got engaged after a few months but later broke up in October 2018.

Pete's pages in the book feature the words "I love u always," "sry I dipped," and "HUUUUUGE" presumably in response to his big dick... energy.

Mac Miller

Ariana was with Mac for two years before they broke up in May 2018 with a heartfelt statement. The two remained friends until his death in 2018.

Mac doesn't actually feature in the burn book in the video. When Ariana sings the line about Mac, she looks over to her bed side table and then up to the sky. On Twitter, Ariana revealed that she actually put Mac in a frame next to her bed instead of adding him to the book.
