Dennis Graham claims that Drake admitted he fabricates his strained relationship with his dad in his lyrics.

Drake has fired back at claims from his dad Dennis Graham that he lies about their relationship in his lyrics to sell records.

Chatting to host Nick Cannon at Power 106 Los Angeles, Drake's dad Dennis Graham said: "I have always been with Drake. I talk to him, if not every day, every other day. And we really got into a deep conversation about that. I said, 'Drake, why are you saying all this different stuff about me, man? This is not cool.'" Dennis then claimed that Drake confirmed that a lot of the lyrics he raps about his dad being a bad father are made up. Dennis imitated his son saying: "Dad, it sells records."

Now, Drake has taken to Instagram to deny his father's claims and reiterate that all of his lyrics are true to his life.

Last night (8 Oct), Drake wrote about how hard it was to hear his father make those claims about him on his Instagram Story. He wrote: "Woke up today so hurt man." He then stated: "My father will say anything to anyone that’s willing to listen to him. It's sad when family gets like this but what can we really do? That’s the people we are stuck with…" Drake finished the post by explaining: "Every bar I ever spit was the truth and the truth is hard for some people to accept."

Drake fans will already know that he regularly makes references to his dad not being there for him in his lyrics. On '0 to 100', he raps: 'Since my dad used to tell me / He was comin’ to the house to get me / He ain’t show up / Valuable lesson, man, I had to grow up / That’s why I never ask for help / I’ll do it for you n****s and do it for myself.'

More recently, on 'March 14', Drake owns up to fears of being like his dad, after finding out that he is a father to a child out of wedlock. He sings: 'Single father, I hate when I hear it / I used to challenge my parents on every album / Now I'm embarrassed to tell them I ended up as a co-parent / Always promised the family unit.'

Drake also got candid about repairing his relationship with Dennis on 'From Time'. He wrote: 'I've been dealing with my dad, speaking of lack of patience / Just me and my old man getting back to basics / We’ve been talking ‘bout the future and time that we wasted / When he put that bottle down, girl that n****a's amazing.'

As it stands, Dennis is yet to respond to Drake's Instagram story. We shall update you if he does.
