Ariana Grande spent seven weeks at number one with "thank u, next". Halsey's "Without Me" nabbed the top spot this week and Ariana Grande had lovely words for her fellow singer.

This week, Halsey earned her first number one as a solo artist with her hit single 'Without Me'. The song, which dropped back in October 2018, rose to the top spot this week, dethroning Ariana Grande's 'thank u, next'. Ariana spent seven weeks at number one before Halsey grabbed the coveted position this week.

Ariana was supportive of the fellow singer, though, sharing a congratulatory message on her Instagram stories.

Ariana posted a screenshot of a news story about 'Without Me' reaching number 1. In the bottom right corner Ariana added "fuck it up @iamhalsey" and "to girls on top all 2019".

Halsey responded to Ariana on her own Instagram stories, writing "luv u bb. dynamic women who are headstrong + compassionate all 2019".

The two have shown each other lots of love in the past and Halsey has made it clear that she is as much a fan of Ari as we all are (and vice versa, apparently!)

After her number 1 was confirmed, Halsey shared a little bit more background about 'Without Me', explaining that the hit ballad "came out of a very lonely place."

Back in October, Halsey called 'Without Me' a "standalone record" and explained her inspiration behind the song in an interview with Zane Lowe.

"It's about my life and the relationship that the world has watched so closely and so vehemently like, in the past year and a half ."

Congratulations to Halsey on her first solo number one and to Ari for seven weeks at number one! These two talented and strong women supporting each other definitely gives us hope for the rest of the year!
