The internet loves Halsey's armpits on her new Rolling Stone cover...
Halsey just landed her first Rolling Stone cover and it's being praised for showing her unedited armpit hair.
Halsey is having an incredible year so far. Over the course of the past few months alone, she's topped the charts with her hit single 'Without Me', collaborated with the world's biggest boyband BTS on 'Boy with Luv' and wowed critics with her latest release 'Nightmare'.
Yesterday (Jun 20), Rolling Stone magazine unveiled their 'Hot Issue' cover and it stars Halsey. People are also applauding the new cover for featuring Halsey's armpit hair.
Check out Halsey's beautiful Rolling Stone cover below.
It's no secret that the magazine industry has historically upheld, and in many cases it continues to uphold, unrealistic beauty standards for women. For years popular publications have airbrushed female bodies and retouched women's faces beyond recognition.
This often means that completely natural things like armpit hair are edited out of photos. Halsey's armpit hair isn't even long but the fact that it's present in her Rolling Stone cover photo is so important.
And the internet was quick to notice. Zara Larsson retweeted Halsey's cover writing: "I loooove the fact that they didn't edit the armpits like most magazines would do. Women are not little babies who don't have body hair. Stunning cover". Halsey then replied: "Thank u beautiful angel babe !!!!"
Zara wasn't the only one who noticed the detail. Plenty of other people also took to Twitter to tweet about how much the cover means to them.
Here are just a few of the reactions to the cover.
it’s subtle but I really appreciate the visible stubble on your armpits. A lot of women (me being one) are actually very insecure about their armpits. It’s ridiculous but we’re suffocated by the pressure of society telling us that every inch of us needs to be perfect. IT DOESN’T!— OT7 (@pjmslilfairy) June 20, 2019
is it wrong that my fav part of this is that her armpits look normal and aren’t photoshopped. My armpits aren’t something I should be insecure about but like I am. God bless Halsey. https://t.co/dpyDqK8JCu— k (@kristentheys) June 20, 2019
what I think I love most about this cover is that they didn’t edit her fucking armpits bc that’s what’s real!!!!— raechel (@romanmourning) June 20, 2019
Okay I just want to say this photo made me so incredibly happy.— Dev 🌱🌻 (@atpeaceboutique) June 21, 2019
I’ve always been so self conscious about my armpits because even when I shave them they look like they have stubble. This photo is so raw, so real. I love her so much. So beautiful. Thank you @halsey 😭💛 pic.twitter.com/IW1oBknRiv

Women's armpit hair is perfectly normal and it's great to see artists like Halsey and publications like Rolling Stone combat the stigma that surrounds it.
