Halsey also discussed her new album Manic and what living with bipolar disorder is really like.

Halsey has opened up about Manic, being bipolar and why she's decided to keep her relationship with Evan Peters private.

Halsey first spoke about dating Evan Peters on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in October 2019. Ellen asked Halsey about her love life and brought up photos of Halsey and Evan on the American Horror Story red carpet. Ellen then pranked Halsey and she clapped back: "I don’t know what’s scarier though, having to talk about my boyfriend on TV or having that happen."

Halsey has since remained pretty tight-lipped about Evan and how they ended up dating and now she's explained why.

Speaking to The Sun about her relationships, Halsey said: "A friend of mine – another female artist who has been criticised for dating a lot of people – said, 'Ashley, you need to live your fucking life and ignore what people say about you.' And so now I keep everything to myself in terms of my romantic relationships."

She then added: "I will say that it’s good to not date another musician as then your work follows you everywhere. Now it’s my personal life so I get to go home to somebody that I love and spend time with them, and it not be about work."

Halsey also spoke candidly about having bipolar disorder. She stated: "I’ve been pretty good at celebrating it and looking on the bright side for most of my life since my diagnosis. There are still moments when I feel like I can’t do something that a normal person can do."

She continued: "I achieved a lot of my dreams at 19 years old. I’ve had a pretty invincible couple of years. So when I can’t do a simple f***ing task and I am so frustrated with myself because I feel so incapable, I get mad at myself and say, 'F*** you'. That’s having bipolar.”

Discussing her brand new album Manic, Halsey revealed: "There are a couple of moments on the album where I’ve had to be very brave. I consider myself a very honest writer, but I didn’t realise what the fuck honesty was until I started writing some of the stuff on this record."
