Halsey suffers from the widespread chronic illness endometriosis...

Halsey has opened up about having three miscarriages and suffering from endometriosis.

The 24-year-old star took to Twitter last night (Mar 24) to talk about what it's like to live with chronic illness. Halsey tweeted: "I’m a pretty competent individual. But I’m a whole entire idiot when I’m sick. You don’t understand the true meaning of “im baby” till u see this shit. I need to retire from life." She then joked about people saying she's always sick by writing: "me, with a chronic illness, staring into the camera like I’m on the office".

Halsey is always extremely candid on social media so this came as no shock. Still, today people often mock chronic illnesses or act as though they don't exist and it needs to stop. With this in mind, it is incredibly inspiring to see someone in Halsey's position be so open. Sadly it didn't take very long for a troll to mock Halsey. Someone replied to her final tweet writing "so quirky".

Halsey quickly put the troll in their place. In a now deleted tweet, she replied: "I have endometriosis. I’ve had 3 miscarriages, 4 surgeries, pretty much in pain every day of my life, and I’ve donated/raised upwards of 300,000$ in the name of research and support. I’m not trying to be quirky. Or different. I’m just trying to normalize an underdiscussed illness".

Halsey previously opened up to Rolling Stone about having a miscarriage but this is the first time that she's publicly spoken about the fact that she has suffered from three miscarriages. Statistically, women who suffer from endometriosis are more prone to having miscarriages than others.

Endometriosis is "an often painful disorder in which tissue that normally lines the inside of your uterus - the endometrium - grows outside your uterus".

Halsey's tweets act as an important reminder that chronic illnesses are very real and we shouldn't dismiss those who have them.
