Halsey "Cried The Whole Time" While Recording Without Me's Emotional Lyrics

The singer also revealed more details about whether or not 'Without Me' will appear on her next album.

Halsey's emotional new song "Without Me" has instant classic written all over it. The singer released "Without Me" on Oct. 4 and, in it, she opened up about love and betrayal in a palpable and vulnerable way.

Shortly before releasing the song, Halsey hopped on Twitter to answer some fan questions about what they could expect from the new track. When one fan asked the star how "Without Me" made her feel, she revealed that she'd cried the whole time recording it.

That's understandable. The lyrics in "Without Me" don't pull any punches. At one point, Halsey sings the following lyrics:

Said I'd catch you if you fall (fall)

And if they laugh, then fuck 'em all (all)

And then I got you off your knees

Put you right back on your feet

Just so you could take advantage of me

In the bridge, Halsey gives pop fans a nice bit of déjà vu by singing a classic line from Justin Timberlake's 'Cry Me A River', which she also addressed on Twitter.

So, will "Without Me" be on Halsey's next album?

Halsey stopped by Zane Lowe to talk more about the record and revealed a few key things. "It's the most raw thing I've ever made," she explained at one point.

She also clarified that "Without Me" does not necessarily belong to an album."This song is not attached to an album. It's a standalone record."

Halsey also preemptively addressed the speculation over whether the song is about G-Eazy.

"It's about my life and the relationship that the world has watched so closely and so vehemently like, in the past year and a half ."
