'You should be sad' is a country-pop song in which Halsey drags an unfaithful ex.

Halsey just released a country-inspired kissoff and fans think her 'You should be sad' lyrics are inspired by G-Eazy cheating.

After months of anticipation, Halsey's third studio album Manic is just one week away from coming out (Jan 17). Halsey gave fans the first taste of the Manic era, 'Without Me', all the way back in 2018. Since then, she's dropped hit collaborations with everyone from BTS to Post Malone and put out singles including, 'Nightmare', 'Graveyard' and 'Finally // beautiful stranger'.

Now Halsey's returned with the final taste of Manic before people get to hear it all and fans can't get over the savage lyrics.

Are Halsey's 'You should be sad' lyrics about G-Eazy?

Halsey - You should be sad

In 'You should be sad', Halsey sings about how lucky she is to have escaped an unfaithful ex. She also calls them out for the way they treated her and laughs at how sad that they must be now that she's left them. Halsey drags them. She sings: "No, you're not half the man you think that you are / And you can't fill the hole inside of you with money, drugs, and cars".

Following the release of the single, fans immediately began connecting it to G-Eazy. One tweeted: "I’d like to report G-Eazy has been found dead". Another added: "G-Eazy is crying somewhere and honestly he should be".

Discussing the song on Twitter, Halsey made clear that it's not about a recent relationship. She explained: "I know this may come as a surprise to some people, but you don’t write the song the day before it’s released. the topics are relevant to the time the song was written. it’s visceral when it happens. the writing part helps it go away".

She also tweeted: "The most petty and heartbreaking songs all come from country. I wrote YSBS on my living room floor on my guitar. Lots of time in Nashville too".

This isn't the first time Halsey's appeared to take shots at G-Eazy in her lyrics either. In 'Without Me', Halsey sings: "Put you right back on your feet / Just so you can take advantage of me".

Meanwhile, in 'Die for Me', Halsey is out for blood. "Grew into a savage and that's why they gave this verse to me / Turns out it shows 'cause they turn out at shows / I sold 15 million copies of a break-up note? / Brought some strangers in our beds / And now you lost your right to privacy".

Halsey - 'you should be sad' lyrics

VERSE 1
I wanna start this out and say
I gotta get it off my chest
Got no anger, got no malice
Just a little bit of regret
Know nobody else will tell you
So there's some things I gotta say
Gonna jot it down and then get it out
And then I'll be on my way

PRE-CHORUS
No, you're not half the man you think that you are
And you can't fill the hole inside of you with money, drugs, and cars
I'm so glad I never ever had a baby with you
'Cause you can't love nothing unless there's something in it for you

CHORUS
Oh, I feel so sorry, I feel so sad
I tried to help you, it just made you mad
And I had no warning about who you are
I'm just glad I made it out without breaking down
And then ran so fucking far
That you would never ever touch me again
Won't see your alligator tears
'Cause, no, I've had enough of them

VERSE 2
Let me start this off by saying
I really meant well from the start
Take a broken man right in my hands
And then put back all his parts

PRE-CHORUS
But you're not half the man you think that you are
And you can't fill the hole inside of you with money, girls, and cars
I'm so glad I never ever had a baby with you
'Cause you can't love nothing unless there's something in it for you

CHORUS
Oh, I feel so sorry (I feel so sorry)
I feel so sad (I feel so sad)
I tried to help you (I tried to help you)
It just made you mad
And I had no warning (I had no warning)
About who you are (About who you are)
Just glad I made it out without breaking down
Oh, I feel so sorry (I feel so sorry)
I feel so sad (I feel so sad)
I tried to help you (I tried to help you)
It just made you mad
And I had no warning (I had no warning)
About who you are (About who you are)
'Bout who you are

BRIDGE
Hey
Hey
Hey
Hey

PRE-CHORUS
'Cause you're not half the man you think that you are
And you can't fill the hole inside of you with money, drugs, and cars
I'm so glad I never ever had a baby with you
'Cause you can't love nothing unless there's something in it for you

OUTRO
I feel so sad
You should be sad
You should be
You should be sad
You should be
You should be
You should be
