Halsey and YUNGBLUD join forces on '11 Minutes' and the lyrics are dark AF

Halsey never ceases to amaze us. In 2019 alone, the 24-year-old has already bagged her first solo US Number 1 single ever ('Without Me' follows in the footsteps of her The Chainsmokers collaboration 'Closer'), topped US pop radio two times in a row with 'Eastside' and 'Without Me' (iconic) and received rave reviews for her first stint hosting SNL (we are still not over that performance).

And Halsey isn't slowing down anytime soon. She is currently in the process of recording her highly-anticipated third studio album and is making sure to keep her fans entertained while she's in the studio. Yesterday, Halsey announced a new single with her rumoured boyfriend YUNGBLUD and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. '11 Minutes' is a joint single and the trio released it last night.

The song itself is a brooding ballad with the chorus lyric: "I'm 11 minutes away and I have missed you all day // I'm 11 minutes away, so why aren't you here?". From the guitar intro to the vocal performances, it's stunning. In a statement to iHeartRadio, YUNGBLUD said, “The song tells the story of a perfect tragedy that reflects modern love within our society. We are so distracted and focused on what’s next, we can fail to see what is actually in front of us.

He then went on to add: "We don’t realize how much we need something until it’s taken away from us. Working with Halsey and Travis was a fucking dream – at the end of the day we’re all rock kids. We grew up with a mutual adoration for the genre so it completely makes sense that we would come together and try to modernize it."
