Harry Styles admits he has ‘no idea' what he's doing when acting

"Just popped back from Venice after spitting on Chris Pine"

Harry Styles has finally addressed the Chris Pine spitting saga at a concert in New York.

The internet went into meltdown earlier this week during the premiere of Don’t Worry Darling when, among many other dramatic moments, a video surfaced which appeared to show Harry 'spitting' into his co-star Chris’s lap.

In the video, Harry can be seen returning to his seat next to Chris and leaning forward as he sits down. Chris then abruptly stops clapping and looks down in surprise, leading many to believe the singer spat in his lap.

Harry made a joke about the incident, which both parties have denied, at a concert in New York on Wednesday (7 September).

Addressing the crowd, he said: “It’s wonderful, wonderful, wonderful to be back in New York. I just popped very quickly to Venice to spit on Chris Pine.”

Fans were thrilled to see Harry finally address the wild internet rumours in person, with one writing: “Just popped back from Venice after spitting on Chris Pine… HE IS SO REAL”.

Another person wrote: "I just popped very quickly to Venice to spit on Chris Pine but fret not we‘re back!" - Harry Styles, 2022”

In a lengthy post, another fan wrote: “i stg nothing is funnier to me than Harry Styles reps coming out being like ‘he did NOT spit on Chris. that is fake and you are all fools and then harry gets on stage and is like ‘yah i fucking did it what of it’ despite NOT DOING IT?? idk actually iconic”.

Someone else pondered: “At the heart of this apparently frivolous scandal lies a pair of profound questions: What would it be like to spit on Chris Pine, and what might it mean to be spat upon by Harry Styles?”

Following the spit-gate incident, reps for both parties have shut down the story, meaning the video was probably just a case of an unfortunate camera angle. If you watch the video closely, no actual spit can be seen in the clip.

In other words, it's likely that Harry was just moving his mouth and Chris wasn't reacting to him.

On top of that, shortly after Chris looks down at his lap, he picks up his sunglasses so was probably just looking down for them.

In a statement to Variety, a spokesperson for Chris said: "This is a ridiculous story — a complete fabrication and the result of an odd online illusion that is clearly deceiving and allows for foolish speculation. Just to be clear, Harry Styles did not spit on Chris Pine."

Meanwhile, a source close to Harry told The Guardian: "This is not true."
