The Jonas Brothers released their brand new single 'Cool' today and it's full of references...

The Jonas Brothers are back... again. Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas released their brand new single 'Cool' today'.

It's safe to say that the Jonas Brothers reunion has been a huge success so far. Not only are old Jonas Brothers fans excited to see the trio releasing music together again but everyone else is too. The band returned last month with 'Sucker', their first single in six years, and it immediately soared to top of the charts. Now, our faves are ready to do it all again with another hit single in the making 'Cool' and it features multiple iconic references.

Check out the 'Cool' video below'.

Jonas Brothers - Cool

Co-written with Ryan Tedder, 'Cool' sees the boys brag about feeling, you guessed it: cool. It's a carefree summer bop, with anthemic production and, just like 'Sucker', it slaps. Those falsetto notes in the chorus?! A moment. Better yet, its lyrics are filled to the brim with references to pop culture and the band's past. With that in mind, here is an extensive deep dive into everything the boys shout out.

1. 'Woke up feelin' like a new James Dean'

James Dean is wildly regarded as the king of cool so it's no wonder that he gets a mention in 'Cool'. Born in 1931, the actor went on to become one of the most loved stars of the big screen in the 1950s with lead roles in films like East of Eden and Rebel Without a Cause. An icon.

2. 'Standin' there with a red dress on ya'

Eagle eyed Jonas Brothers fans quickly noticed that Nick, Joe and Kevin pay homage to their 00s classic 'Burnin' Up' in the 'Cool' lyrics. Any true JoBro stan will already know that Nick and Joe both passionately sing "High heels (high heels) // Red dress (red dress)" about a girl that's making them sweat in 'Burnin' Up'. It quickly became a fan favourite lyric, so it's great to see them reference it here. Plus the video is filled with 'Burnin' Up' easter eggs.

3. 'A Killer Queen like a young Jane Fonda'

Two for the price of one here. 'Killer Queen' references the beloved Queen song about a woman who is undeniably cool and it's an undisputed fact that Jane Fonda at any age is the definition of cool. From Klute to Grace and Frankie - a true star.

4. 'Oh, I feel like Post Malone when I get home'

This one is actually adorable. Obviously it's fun to hear the Jonas Brothers give Post Malone a nod but it's even more fun when you realise that Post Malone gave them a nod in his hit 2018 single 'Better Now'. Post sings, "And I’m rollin', rollin', rollin', rollin' // With my brothers like it’s Jonas, Jonas". Someone make a mash-up now.

5. 'Sittin' there, winning like it's Game of Thrones'

Yes. Joe Jonas really pays tribute his fiancé Sophie Turner here with a little reference to her show Game of Thrones (you may have heard of it). No, I'm not crying, you are. Here's hoping that this means Sansa gets the iron throne.

6. 'And now that we've made it, how complicated was last year?'

Last but not least, Joe take a moment to honour Nick's last solo album Last Year Was Complicated. The album included the hit single 'Close (feat. Tove Lo)' and reached Number 2 on the Billboard 200. We love a supportive brother.

What do you think of 'Cool'? Did we miss anything?
