Nick Jonas just revealed that he wrote 'Lovebug' about Miley Cyrus in the Jonas Brothers documentary Chasing Happiness.
Chasing Happiness is finally here. The new Jonas Brothers documentary tells the incredible true story of how Kevin, Joe and Nick became one of the biggest boy bands in the world. It charts their beginnings in music, how their family was ostracised by their church, their rise their fame, their break-up and what brought them back together. Not only that but the boys also speak about Miley Cyrus and how Nick fell in love with her and wrote 'Lovebug' about her.
What did Nick Jonas say about Miley Cyrus in Chasing Happiness?
Kevin says: "We got to be on the Hannah Montana episode on the Disney channel. That changed girls for Nick forever. When he met Miley, I think that kid's head exploded". Our hearts. That's not all though. Nick then explains: "I started writing about love... and I actually knew what it felt like, you know?" Don't worry. We're crying too. The documentary then shows Nick in the studio recording the beloved single.
And it actually checks out. Chatting to MTV in 2008, Nick revealed: "We wrote it while on the Christmas break of the Hannah Montana tour [we played on]. So we were in the hotel room and sat down that night and wrote it in about 15 or 20 minutes." This would have been when Nick and Miley were dating, or just after they broke up. In other words, the standout hit and love song of our childhoods, is about Miley.
Looking back over the 'Lovebug' lyrics, it's impossible not to swoon. "I can't get your smile out of my mind // I think about your eyes all the time // You're beautiful, but you don't even try". Nick was writing poetry about Miley. Also that romantic bridge has a whole new meaning now. "I kissed her for the first time yesterday // Everything I wished that it would be // Suddenly I forgot how to speak".
Obviously, Miley and Nick are now happily married to other people. Miley and Liam Hemsworth tied the knot in December last year and Nick and Priyanka Chopra said "I do" a couple weeks earlier. Not to mention, the two are friends. Still it's adorable to hear how loved up they once were. 'Lovebug' has a slightly different theme to it than '7 Things' which is allegedly about Nick.
