Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne, and Ryan Gosling are distant cousins and Justin is excited, to say the least. Avril Lavigne even reacted to the news with a hilarious Christmas dinner invite.
Justin Bieber is already one of the most recognisable Canadian exports to the world–right alongside Poutine and double denim. It appears that, like many other folks, Justin has been doing some digging into his family tree and that exploration has yielded some fascinating results. As it turns out, Justin could possibly have two very famous Canadian relatives in Avril Lavigne and Ryan Gosling–if ancestry.com is to be believed.
Justin posted a very elaborate family tree on Instagram which detailed his apparent connection to singer Avril Lavigne and actor Ryan Gosling.

Apparently, all three have the same 11th great grandparents, Mathurin Roy and Marguierite Biré, which makes them very distant cousins.
Justin shared the image and posted an excited caption right alongside it. "I also just found out that I’m related to both Ryan gosling and Avril Lavigne," he wrote. "This is the best day of my life.. it seems super legit it’s on ancestry.com".
We love distantly related Canadian celebrities. Avril Lavigne couldn't resist reacting to the news with the perfect joke, writing "I'll host Christmas dinner this year 🎅🎄⛄️🇨🇦".
Oh, to be a fly on the wall at that family reunion.
Meanwhile, Justin Bieber also took to Instagram to share photos highlighting his resemblance to the Sprouse twins when they were all kids.
"Me and the Sprouse twins looked so similar as a baby. I coulda subbed in for them for big daddy," he joked.
Has anyone checked whether the Sprouse twins are distant relatives, too??
