Justin Bieber joked that he and Hailey were having a baby on April Fool's...

Justin Bieber has defended his Hailey Baldwin pregnancy prank in an apology to those who were offended.

On Monday (April 1), Justin came under fire for pretending that his wife Hailey was pregnant and they were having a baby. In a series of Instagram photos, Justin shared a fake ultrasound, fake pictures of Hailey seemingly pregnant in the hospital and then a sonogram meme confirming that it was actually all an elaborate prank.

Taking to Instagram, Justin stated: "There’s always gonna be people offended, there’s also people who don’t take jokes very well, I am a prankster and it was APRIL FOOLS. I didn’t at all mean to be insensitive to people who can’t have children. A lot of people I know, their first go to prank on April fools is telling their parents they are pregnant to get a big reaction. But I will apologize anyway and take responsibility and say sorry to people who were offended."

He then went on to defend himself: "I truly don’t want anyone to be hurt by a prank.. it’s like when I shoved cake in my little sisters face for her birthday expecting her to laugh but she cried. You sometimes just don’t know what will hurt someone’s feelings not to compare pregnancy with cake in the face but it’s just to paint the picture of not knowing what will offend. Some might have laughed but some were offended .."

We have no doubt that Justin meant no ill will by his original prank but it's clear that he hurt people. His defence of the prank is understandable but it's good to see him also take accountability and apologise to those offended. What some people find funny can be incredibly offensive to others and it's important to be aware of that.
