Lady Gaga accused of "ripping off" Brooke Candy and Grimes with Stupid Love video

People are comparing Lady Gaga's 'Stupid Love' aesthetic to Brooke Candy's look in Grimes' 'Genesis' music video.

Lady Gaga is being called out for allegedly copying Brooke Candy and Grimes with her outfit in her new 'Stupid Love' video.

Lady Gaga is back. After flexing her acting skills in A Star Is Born, the 33-year-old is ready to be a popstar again and 'Stupid Love' is the first taste of her new era. The song is an undeniable banger with a massive chorus reminiscent of her early work and the lyrics are about falling head over heels in love with someone. It's already topped iTunes charts all around the world.

However, in and amongst the critical acclaim and commercial success, Gaga has faced some backlash over 'Stupid Love'. People think that she is ripping off Brooke Candy in the video and they're criticising Gaga on Twitter over the comparison.

Grimes - Genesis

In the new 'Stupid Love' video, Gaga plays an intergalactic being hellbent on spreading love and ending war. The intro to the video reads: "The world rots in conflict. Many tribes battle for dominance. While the Spiritual ones pray and sleep for peace, the Kindness punks fight for Chromatica." She then stops fights through the power of song, dance and futuristic looks.

Gaga's hair and clothing in the video are all a glorious shade of pink, she dons reflective armour and the video is set in a sort of space-like desert. However, Grimes and Brooke Candy fans believe that it's all a little bit too familiar. In Grimes' 'Genesis' video, Brooke Candy sports a similar outfit with pink hair and the video is set in an actual desert.

One person tweeted: "So we all agree that lady Gaga is ripping off Brooke Candy & Grimes right?" Another added: "New Lady Gaga is basically Brooke Candy in Grimes' genesis music video?"

Gaga has played with futuristic space-style looks many times before so we doubt that the similarities were intentional. Still, it's understandable why people are comparing the two videos.

As it stands, Gaga is yet to address the accusations. We'll update you if she does.
