We're only one week into 2020 and Miley Cyrus is already making some huge changes – starting with her hair. The 'Mother's Daughter' singer revealed her new haircut and announced new music on Instagram.

Miley shared a series of images of herself sitting on the floor wearing a simple white tee, blue jeans and black boots. The Hannah Montana actress ensured all the attention was on her new tresses, which hit her on the nape of her neck and featured a choppy fringe. "New hair. New year. NEW MUSIC," she wrote in the caption.

Apparently, Miley's new cut is actually a "punk shag" – a little different from the "modern mullet" she had before. Miley's new lewk is the work of celeb hairstylist Sally Hershberger, who did her last cut too. "It's a very fashion-forward look yet very no-fuss, both reflective of Miley's personality," Sally said of the style in a press release.

If you remember, last year Miley's first dance with the mullet caused a bit of a stir. On her birthday, Miley's mother Tish Cyrus cut her hair into a super blunt cut in the bathroom. It was later tided up by Sally, who has previously worked her magic on Sandra Bullock, Linda Evangelista and Tom Cruise.

Although Miley was thrilled with her new cut, um, not everyone thought it was for her. Fans mocked Miley's hair and Sally was forced to clap back at the haters, insisting the "modern mullet" was avant-garde and cool – something us mere mortals would never understand.

Thankfully, her latest haircut got the seal of approval from her fans.
