Niall Horan is cooking up something a little different for his next musical offering.

Niall Horan has already announced he'll release his very first live album on December 7 alongside The RTE Concert Orchestra, a 45 piece orchestra in Dublin. But the former One Direction member confirmed he's also working on more tunes to follow up his 2017 debut album, Flicker.

The album's lead single, "This Town" peaked at number nine on the UK Singles Chart and number 20 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Meanwhile, Niall's second single, "Slow Hands" charted within the top 10 in a number of countries and reached number 11 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

Niall dropped some huge spoilers on what his next album would sound like on George Ezra's podcast, George Ezra & Friends. So, when can fans expect it to drop? What has Niall revealed about it? And who is he working with for this for the upcoming release? Well, here's everything we know so far.

1. What will Niall's new album sound like?

Niall revealed that he's hoping to channel the "funky sexiness" of 'Slow Hands' for his new album. The track was a huge success but he was worried it was too out there before its release. Now he believes dropping the hit single was the "best decision" he ever made.

"That's what I'll aim for next time, not so much electric but that bit of dirt – yeah, dirt is the word," he explained. He also shared that he's looking to Coldplay for some inspiration with the record too. He added: "Coldplay have done so well over the years, moving with the times and kept originality. They've got a least two off every album where you go, 'Woah, banger'."

2. What's his collaboration with the RTE Orchestra about?

If you can't hold tight until Niall's second album drops, he's got you covered. Niall is set to release his very first live album, which he recorded in Dublin earlier this year. Using songs from his Flicker album, the CD will only be available in shops in Ireland (booo!). But fear not international fans! You can purchase a copy through Niall's website.

Flicker featuring The RTE Concert Orchestra will be released on December 7.

3. When's Niall's new album coming?

So there's no actual release date for Niall's second album just yet, but he's been churning out the songs since finishing up on his Flicker tour. Niall revealed how much of a struggle it was to write when he was touring but now he has time to get back into it. We don't want to rush you Niall, but we kinda need the album SOON.

4. Will there be any collaborations on Niall's new album?

It's what everyone is itching to know – will there be any collaborations? Or, dare we dream it, a One Direction medley?! Possibly. Niall has been writing a few tunes and had meetings in Los Angeles with his label. Niall admitted to George that he was meeting up with some old favourites to collaborate on the album with as well as some newbies. He also went on to say he'd be meeting up with Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles within the next two weeks... C'mon Niall, make our dreams come true.

5. What's Niall's new album called and what's the tracklist like?

So there's no talk of an official title or track list just yet, however, Niall will be putting pen to paper for his second album. He's been listening to old favourites from the 1970s and 80s for writing inspiration. He said: "I'm always looking for inspiration to write songs. I just found myself listening to Elton John this week."
