Did Hayley just reveal what the new record is about?

Hayley Williams took to Instagram over the weekend (Jan 8) to reveal more details about album number 5, the much-anticipated follow up to their hugely successful self-titled album, released back in 2013.

Most Paramore fans understand what an important moment their last album was in the history of the band. After two original members qutting, Paramore was a massive success not just because it sold well but because they managed to successfully reinvent themselves after coming so close to breaking up completely. It's also, in our opinion, their best album - but let's not start fighting about that right now. It's only Monday and we've still got the rest of the week to find time to fall out.

That said, it must put a lot of pressure of Hayley & co to follow that. I mean, how do you even do that? Well, clearly that's what's been weighing on Hayley's mind while writing the next record and she took to Instagram to explain how she had to let the past go to truly move on to make album #5.

The caption reads:

"about a year ago, we began writing & demoing songs for #5 / / / following up our self-titled album didn't seem like it was going to be an easy task and, unsurprisingly, it was not. the problem about comparing yourself to... yourself... is that even though it's better than looking elsewhere, you're still looking in the wrong direction. for me, it wasn't until i trusted that the past is finished with me that i could go looking for what's next. our pasts can be a great comforter, or a horror movie; a noose, or a shield... but it is "past" for a reason. after a rest, we have to go looking for what's supposed to come after that. - h"

So what does it mean? Well, clearly Hayley is keen not to repeat the past. So whatever the new direction is, don't expect it to sound like any of their previous records. Ngl that makes us feel so excited for the new record. Not long now, folks!
