What will Selena Gomez's documentary be about?

In a press release for Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me, Apple have teased that the project will explore Selena's life and work since the Revival Tour in 2016 that was abruptly cancelled due to side effects of Lupus.

They say: "After years in the limelight, Selena Gomez achieves unimaginable stardom. But just as she reaches a new peak, an unexpected turn pulls her into darkness. This uniquely raw and intimate documentary spans her six-year journey into a new light."

With that in mind, fans will likely see everything from Selena's life-saving kidney transplant in 2017 to her work on her critically-acclaimed third studio album Rare and possibly her upcoming fourth album.

Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me will be 1 hour and 35 minutes long.

When does the Selena Gomez documentary come out?

Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me will be available to stream exclusively on Apple TV+ on November 4th.

Selena will also be releasing a song called 'My Mind and Me' alongside the film. In a snippet of the song, Selena sings: "My mind and me / We don’t get along sometimes / It gets hard to breathe / But, I wouldn't change my life / If somebody sees me like this / Then they won't feel alone / My mind and me".

Who directed the Selena Gomez documentary?

Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me is directed by legendary filmmaker Alek Keshishian. Alek is best known for his work directing Madonna's iconic Truth or Dare documentary which is widely regarded as one of the greatest popstar documentaries of all time. Alek directed Selena's 'Hands to Myself' documentary and has been working with her ever since.

Taking to Instagram in May 2022, Alek described his experience working with Madonna and then compared her to Selena. He wrote: "Many years ago I worked with a woman who appreciated that I wasn’t willing to (in her words) “put up w her rubbish” - she was brave and truthful and willing to break conventions to be authentic and real."

He added: "I feel so blessed all these years later to be working with another amazingly brave woman who is also committed to me sharing her TRUTH / not for her ego or even her “brand” but simply because she believes by sharing it she may help others… - i love both these strong women."

In another post, Alek wrote: "Selena grabbing a sandwich on our way to Heathrow... so excited the world will soon get to see the person behind the persona."

Alek is known for his raw, candid and unfiltered style of filming so it's likely that My Mind & Me will go deep into Selena's personal life.
