This is not okay.

It's no secret that Selena Gomez is one of the most successful superstars in the world right now. From Wizards of Waverley Place and Selena Gomez and the Scene to The Fundamentals of Caring and Revival, she never fails to impress us with her music and acting. Not only that but she also uses her platform to speak up about matters from lupus to body positivity.

Last night though, internationally renowned designer Stefano Gabbana (Dolce & Gabbana) made a rude comment about the popstar on Instagram that was completely out of line. Instagram account @thecatwalkitalia posted a collage of Selena rocking five stunning red looks and Stefano left the comment 'È proprio brutta!!!' below which translates to 'She's so ugly'.

Selena may be a celebrity but there is no question that this is bullying and it is not acceptable.

Unsurprisingly fans were not at all happy with the comments. Not only were they upset to see one of the head designers of a major fashion line engage in petty cyber bullying but they were also angry that he would use his platform like this.

Selenators around the world immediately took to social media to express their outrage at Stefano's comments.

Some discussed how harmful Stefano's words are.

We detect no lies.

Others were keen to point out the double standards that Selena is subject to.

Regardless of what you think of Selena, name-calling is not cool.

A couple of fans touched on the fact that Selena has literally supported the brand multiple times.

Dolce & Gabbana may be a well-established brand but they are nothing without the celebrities they work with.

One or two people even wondered if Stefano may be resentful because Selena has done campaigns for Louis Vuitton and Coach instead of Dolce & Gabbana.

Bitterness is a disease.

Last but not least an array of Selenators have been sharing inspiring Selena quotes in the wake of all the negativity.

We couldn't put it better ourselves.

Ever the attention-seeker, Stefano responded to the backlash with an Instagram video of his family and the comment "(hey haters!!! Please more comments please!! You can make me moooore important!!!".

What a childish excuse for a man. The worst thing about all of this is that this isn't the first time that Stefano has caused this kind of controversy. Just last year he made similar comments about Miley Cyrus after she called him out for his backward views on same sex adoption and last week he left a catty Instagram comment under a photo of Kate Moss.

Essentially, Stefano is trash and, in spite of all his words, the women he is insulting are winning. Kate is still one of the most in demand models in the entire world, Miley is as successful as ever and Selena is topping the charts with her new single 'Back to You'. The only thing ugly in this situation is Stefano's soul. Sad!
