Shawn Mendes reveals Camila Cabello wasn't interested in dating him at first

Shawn Mendes had to "fight" to get Camila Cabello to become his girlfriend.
Shawn Mendes has opened up about how he ended up dating Camila Cabello in a recent fan Q&A on his current world tour.
No relationship has captured the world's attention this year as much as Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello's new romance. Rumours that the two stars were together first surfaced when they teamed up on their Number 1 duet 'Señorita' in July, then there were the photos of them kissing and holding hands in public and, last but not least, Camila officially confirmed that she's seeing Shawn in an Elle interview. Not to mention, there was THAT video of them making out on Instagram.

Now Shawn has revealed how he and Camila went from friends to lovers and the answer will shock you.
Yesterday (28 Sep), at a Q&A in Shanghai, a fan asked Shawn for some relationship advice. They said: "Have you ever loved someone who doesn't love you and what would you do?" Shawn immediately replied, "yeah", before dropping a bombshell about his budding relationship with Camila. Shawn said: "Well, if I told you the whole story of Camila, it would take a long time." And I, in every single sense of the word, oop.
Shawn then continued: "I would say that you have to fight for someone you really love and, if you really truly love them, then you'll get them." He added: "It just takes time but make sure you really love him or her." Longterm fans of Shawn and Camila will already know that they first became friends in 2015 but it wasn't until Camila split with her ex, dating expert Matthew Hussey, that they became a couple.
Fans have speculated for years that Shawn has always been interested in Camila romantically. People have even suggested that many of the lyrics in Shawn's last two albums, including the likes of 'Treat You Better' and 'Why', are specifically about Camila. Until recently, they'd always said they were just friends but now Shawn has confirmed that he loved Camila long before they started dating.
