The MTV VMAs were great for a whole host of reasons this year. First there were next level performances (Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj really did the damn thing), then there were the shocking moments (Tiffany Haddish and Maluma made us scream multiple times).There was also the night's amazing winners (Cardi B and Childish Gambino both took home three awards at the ceremony). And who could forget Jennifer Lopez receiving the Video Vanguard award?

It wasn't just what happened during the event that was newsworthy. There were antics before and after the awards show that set the internet into a frenzy. From Nicki's tweets about Stormi that became a meme to a moment between Nicki and Ariana, which also became a meme, the VMAs delivered. Now, a video of Shawn Mendes seemingly confirming that Niall Horan and Hailee Steinfeld are dating has everyone worked up all over again.
Shawn performed his hit single 'In My Blood' at the event but before the show began he did a few interviews. Speaking to Access Hollywood, the 'Mercy' hitmaker was asked: "What do you think of Niall Horan and Hailee?" and he replied: "Niall and Haillee are my favourite people in the whole world. Niall is one of my greatest friends. Hailee, when she started out, I was one of the first people she worked with in music. I love them both."
Suddenly realising that he lowkey confirmed that the two superstars are dating, Shawn backtracked a little and said: "I thought this was common knowledge. I guess it was common knowledge for me because I'm friends with them both."

Even though Niall and Hailee have been spotted together numerous times, the two superstars are yet to officially announce that they're dating. Although, now it looks as though they don't need to. To be fair to Shawn, both Niall and Hailee have not made any attempts to hide their affection in public, so we're pretty sure that they won't mind the slip up.
We stan all three of them so much and it's so sweet to hear how close they all are.
